Thank you for the spiritual guidance

Thanks to everyone who responded to our cry for help with both philosophical and practical suggestions. Particularly pertinent were several variants on a theme of 'accept the Eastern phenomena of yin and yang'; we hope our two most recent blog entries showed that we're starting to get to grips with this principle.

We liked and certainly intend to act on the suggestion that we break up the cycling with some breaks and treats. We're currently having four nights in Saigon, a city we like very much. We've been busy 'refuelling' (as the photos illustrate) and tomorrow hope to find ourselves a massage in preparation for the next leg of our journey.

And finally we also particularly liked the suggestion that we afix a sign to our bicycles: 'can't stop now but thanks for your hospitality'.

Never mind Zoe lookylikeys, I still think Keira Knightley has the look of Hannah and a little of the voice - especially when Hannah's being slightly impatient....
Keira's latest film (mega publicity here) is The Duchess.
Interestingly the real life of Duchess, Georgiana had echoes of Lady Di (also a Spencer).
So I'm now imagining The Duchess side saddling along with Elton John......
Seriously I am keeping up to date with your adventure and really enjoy reading the blog trail through SE Asia. Even though I've forgotten combinations of user name /password - twice!
Good idea breaks, massage, signs on bikes in English and local language perhaps??
I'm sitting here with slight nausea/migraine with a smelly puppy head on my feet - incidentally last bit is the nice bit... :) xxx

And if you do have any dietary run-ins with what those of us on this side of the globe might term "domestic" animals, can you keep those stories for later? pretty please? =D

Glad your spiritual crisis is passing... Sounds like your trip up the Ho Chi Minh trail was relatively free of hassle, which must have been a relief. Is your train journey taking you to the coast? Photos I've seen of coastal Vietnam beggar belief... much love girls

This is a test of a new account using this slightly clunky and un-user-friendly sign-up system. Please ignore

Another test - hopefully the name will now have changed?

I hereby declare that my son and heir is a peerless master of all things too complicated for old gits to understand. Furthermore, I fully acknowledge that my so-called 'system' of writing important information down on little bits of paper which I subsequently lose is crap in the extreme. How I managed to make it this far in life is a mystery to me, as I'm sure it is to everyone else.

Sincerely.

Giles

as the Zen masters, and the Taoists before them, say: what can be said isn't it, what is it cannot be said. this applies to spiritual guidance but also to other kinds of knowledge. scientists in their way are brilliant but old gits have their wisdom.
signed the real giles. hereby declare end of latest family bicker, thanks to ben for fixing my blogging capacity.

Didn't you read the signs? The blog is reserved their customers - we should refrain from lingering and discussion.

Anyway, mental illness people are not allowed to visit the site - so you shouldn't be here at all...
